(Editor's note: This is a reaction
to the reaction to the article 'The
US And Its Role In People Power 2'.) The government of the United States of America as
a superpower has always had an interventionist policy to any country on
this planet in relation to its national interest whether political,
military or economic. The Philippines, with its strategic geographic location
in relation to USA's military expansionism and as an economic gateway to
Southeast Asia , will always be in the center of America's interventionist
eye. This we should accept as
fact. And this we should use to the best
advantage for
our national interest, just like the countries of Germany, Taiwan,
Japan, Australia, Israel, to mention a few. To deny this fact or continue opposing it will be to
our own disadvantage. The USA is not a super power for nothing. We have an advantage over the bargaining table, but our
politicians and foreign policy makers and strategists, corrupt and debase
as they are collectively, have been trading our birthright for a fancy
dross instead of for pots of gold. Without vision for the future, they accept bribes in
exchange for foreign policies disadvantageous to the country. Our foreign
policy is pro-US, not pro-Filipino. I think we need to harness the people power for the
creation of a foreign policy beneficial to our country's national interest
that will trickle down to the poorest of the poor. #
