An impeachment watchdog was launched
on the internet as impeachment complaints flood the House of
Representatives everyday since June 26.
“Bantay
Impeachment 2,” an online
watchdog on the impeachment of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, is now
open. It will provide updates and commentaries on current moves in the
Lower House aimed at removing the president whom it called “the bogus
chief executive.” It was relaunched on June 25, the eve of the filing of
the second impeachment complaint.
Bantay Impeachment 2 also aims “to
expose any and all attempts to foil the impeachment process through
pressure, bribery and other perfidies.”
Meanwhile, Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Yńiguez, along with other
co-complainants, filed the third impeachment complaint against the
president on June 28. It was endorsed by Akbayan Rep. Loreta Ann
Rosales.
However, the bishop, who represented
the Kilusang Makabansang Ekonomiya (KME or Movement for a Nationalist
Economy), clarified that it was his personal choice to file the
complaint and not the official stand of the Catholic Bishops Conference
of the Philippines (CBCP).
Tomorrow, June 29, youth groups led
by the National Union of Students of the Philippines will file another
complaint at the Lower House. Bulatlat
