Six of the seven leaders of a transport group arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga province (83 kms. north of Manila) were released today from the 174th Philippine National Police (PNP) Headquarters in Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Angeles City.

Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) leaders Jose Bernardino, Jose Ramos, Fernando Poblacion, and Jay Francis Aquino were released at 5 p.m. after posting bail amounting to P500,000 for allegedly violating Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of explosives.

Sr. Cecile Ruiz, coordinator of Karapatan-Central Luzon (Alliance for the Advancement of Human Rights) said there were originally seven Piston leaders and leaders arrested on July 3. Archie de Jesus and William Aguilar were released earlier, July 4.

They had bruises allegedly from punches and kicks. They also said they were hit using rifle butts.

The four are now in a secure place.

Meanwhile, Emerito Lipio, national council member of Piston, remains missing. The police, however, claimed through media that they have released all seven detainees. Bulatlat
