In the midst of the ongoing
investigation of the United Nations special rapporteur on extra judicial
executions, Philip Alston, on the spate of political killings in the
country, another student leader of a progressive organization was killed
last night, Feb. 15.
Farly Alcantara, 22, was shot dead by
still unidentified men in front of the gates of the Camarines Norte
State College in Daet, Camarines Norte at around 9:45 p.m., a report
from the regional chapter of the human rights group Karapatan (Alliance
for the Advancement of Peoples’ Rights) said.
Alcantara, an active member of the
League of Filipino Students (LFS) in the province, was supposed to
graduate this March with a degree in BSBA Economics.
