House Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Satur C. Ocampo welcomed the proposed tandem of two governors for the highest elective posts in the 2010 presidential elections.

According to news reports, Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio and Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca may run for the top posts.

“This a positive move in pursuing the politics of change advocated by our progressive partylist group Bayan Muna,” Ocampo said.

Both Panlilio and Padaca are seen as alternatives to trapos or traditional politicians.

Ocampo said their group’s grassroots base and broad alliance network can support the tandem’s national campaign if there will be unity on the program or platform and how it would be carried out after victory in the 2010 polls.

“There is unity on working together for changes in politics and governance, but the details need to be further discussed assiduously and extensively,” he stressed.

“There is no question on the integrity and sincerity to serve the people on the part of Govs. Panlilio and Padaca. But to provide effective national leadership and effect genuine change, they must commit to pursue a program that shall reverse all the anti-people policies and programs of previous governments, especially those of the Macapagal-Arroyo administration,” Ocampo pointed out.(Bulatlat.com)
