Peoples' Movements Encounter 

Thousands of Dalits and other poor people in their tribal costumes sit down outside the huge Indira Gandhi Park to listen to speeches that opened the Peoples Movements Encounter and Asian Social Forum in Hyderabad, India Jan. 3-7. Some 20,000 people took part in both forums and protest marches held at the Nizam College Grounds and outside to tackle imperialist globalization, the U.S. war on terror and other issues. Representing the Philippines as rally speaker was Teddy Casino, Bayan secretary general.
