Two years after 9/11:
Bush Gov’t Blew it Bigtime 

As the glaring facts render the Bush government’s official version explaining 9/11 as obviously untenable, they in turn reinforce the thesis that the Bush ruling clique did have the means, the motive, the opportunity and the historical record to be part of the whole secret team of perpetrators of 9/11 and the ensuing cover-up. Two years ago, hundreds of millions of people all over the world—from all walks of life, from a wide spectrum of political persuasions—found common cause in condemning the most spectacular terrorist attacks yet in history.

An unprecedented epochal opportunity was provided by 9/11 to unite the world’s peoples in a campaign to root out the entire cabal of perpetrators of this world-class crime that genuinely defined terrorism for us.

But instead, we now--on the eve of the second anniversary of 9/11--find ourselves led down an entirely different tack, an entirely crooked path. In 9/11’s wake, the U.S. administration of George W. Bush has squandered the once-in-an-era chance to demonstrate authentic leadership in the world quest for justice and peace. Indeed, Bush blew it bigtime.

For instead, the ruling Bush clique has hijacked the 9/11 fight toward a deceit-driven and nuclear-laced war that serves Big Oil, Israeli fascism, and the U.S. corporate-military power clique, in a naked, megaviolent imperialist campaign worldwide paralleling the scale of Nazi Germany’s World War II forays.

Multifarious facts that have emerged the past months reveal that plans for the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq were in place long before 9/11. Afghanistan was already in the U.S.’ crosshairs from way on 1998, when leading Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member Zbigniew Brzezinski argued for U.S. control of Central Asia as key U.S. geostrategic imperative in his book, The Grand Chessboard. Iraq, on the other hand, had been lobbied for conquest as early as just after Bush I’s Gulf War by the powerful group behind the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) led by now Vice-President Richard Cheney, former Defense Policy Board chairman Richard Perle, current Defense Undersecretary Paul Wolfowitz, and current State Undersecretary Douglas Feith, among others. 9/11 obviously then was not the raison d’etre for invading Iraq and Afghanistan, contrary to U.S. official spin.

The use of Depleted Uranium (DU) weapons in Afghanistan and Iraq post-9/11 characterized these wars as unprecedented in the U.S.’ wanton employment of nuclear terrorism lethally inflicted not only on the Iraqi and Afghan peoples and environments, but on the U.S. soldiers and their fellows from other U.S. allied countries as well.

Both post-9/11 wars involved invasions of countries that served to address the compelling needs of Bush’s Big Oil buddies to control far larger world oil reserves to thus primarily benefit from the forthcoming age of permanent oil shortage.

The toppling of the Taliban in Afghanistan and Saddam Hussein in Iraq undercut two of the biggest challengers to the hegemony of the Israeli fascist regime in the Middle East, thereby further enlarging Israel’s geostrategic stock in this key region.

The two wars impelled the biggest U.S. defense budget in history and distracted the world from the billion-dollar corporate megacrimes at the pinnacles of world finance and industry exposed at the bursting of the extended U.S. prosperity bubble, to the benefit of the U.S. corporate-military clique.

In misdirecting the 9/11 fight, Bush has presided over the worst post-World War II U.S. administration that has in fact become the world’s prime source of instability, insecurity, fear-mongering and blatant mass disempowerment.

Joint squander and misdirection

And so with his closest local partners in crime, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her big business-militarist clique. For indeed, like Bush, Macapagal-Arroyo fatally squandered a historic opportunity, the one provided by EDSA 2, successfully turning a good thing into a monstrosity. For going along with the worst post-World War II U.S. administration in misdirecting the fight against 9/11 terrorism, her administration will thus be remembered as a moribund government of utter deceit, puppetry, and betrayal.

Parallel suppression of full, independent antiterrorist inquiries

The dark story doesn’t end there, though. Bush and Macapagal-Arroyo also share a common tack of suppressing full-fledged, independent, transparent and credible investigations into linchpin acts of terrorism in both countries.

The previous findings of congressional inquiries into the June 2001 Lamitan fiasco and the recent Ordoñez committee into the escape of Rizal Day 2000 terrorist Fathur Rohman al-Ghozi point to a terrorist-coddling cabal within government that includes at the least well-placed military and police officers. Yet no one has been jailed for these high crimes. Further, the historical and likely current CIA ties of the Abu Sayyaf remain unprobed officially.

Meanwhile, CIA operative and Abu Sayyaf cohort Michael Terrence Meiring was successfully extricated last year from criminal prosecution by F.B.I. agents aided by the U.S. embassy under Ambassador Francis Ricciardone and the inaction of former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes and Macapagal-Arroyo. Meiring’s continued non-extradition to the Philippines has preserved unharmed the terrorist network he left behind here.

Worse, President Macapagal-Arroyo’s SONA 2003 promise to organize an official inquiry into the Davao bombings early this year remains unkept.

The 9/11 cover-up

These actions of the Macapagal-Arroyo government parallel the Bush administration’s suppression of full-blown and transparent investigations into the various colossal government failures and unearthed anomalies surrounding 9/11. Both the 2002 Joint U.S. Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 and the current National Commission to further investigate 9/11 led by former U.S. governor Thomas Kean—which are in fact wimpy investigative bodies far unlike the official commission on, for example, the Kennedy assassination--have not touched on a whole host of evidence that demolishes the Bush government’s thesis that Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda operatives alone had the means, motive, opportunity and record in perpetrating 9/11 and its cover-up. Among a few of the damning facts:

- The key role of Pakistan’s CIA-affiliated Intelligence Agency (ISI) in funding, abetting and coddling al Qaeda, bin Laden and the pinpointed terrorists that allegedly pulled off 9/11. The ISI chief at the time of 9/11, General Mahmoud Ahmed, was in Washington on the morning of the attacks, talking to, among others, Rep. Porter Goss and Sen. Bob Graham, respectively House and Senate Intelligence Committee chairs, and co-chairs of the same 2002 joint panel that inquired into 9/11 intelligence failures.

- The loud absence of major firings or reprimands for gross and criminal incompetence of agencies and officials that failed to prevent 9/11, with many of those implicated—among them, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, then acting head of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard Myers, FBI’s Robert Mueller, CIA’s George Tenet, and NORAD’s Gen. Ed Eberhart—even promoted and officially commended.

- Anomalous U.S. stock market transactions just days before 9/11 that indicated intimate foreknowledge of the Black Tuesday attacks. These insider trading transactions included many handled by Deutschebank/AB Brown, where Bush buddy and current CIA Executive Director Buzzy Krongard was former CEO.

- The nullification, in their entirety, of U.S. official established procedures and protocols dealing with hijackings on that fateful morning, with the U.S. President George W. Bush himself actively at the center of this “stand-down.”

- Anomalous training of some of the pinpointed 9/11 hijackers in various U.S.-based military-approved flight schools and military institutes.

- The business ties of the bin Laden and Bush families through the Carlyle Group up to the time of the attacks.

- The anomalous collapse of WTC-7 which was not punctured by any of the planes that hit the two WTC towers.

- The well-known historical ties of the CIA and the “Islamic Militant Network” that included Osama bin Laden and the al Qaeda, way back from the mujahideen war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan in the 1980s; and

- Precise warnings received by San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Israel’s Ariel Sharon, U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, Salman Rushdie, a group of top Pentagon officials, and CEOs of top corporations holding offices at the WTC towers that prevented them from being at the wrong place on 9/11.

Bush power clique part of those behind 9/11?

As these glaring facts render the Bush government’s official version explaining 9/11 as obviously untenable, they in turn reinforce the thesis that the Bush ruling clique did have the means, the motive, the opportunity and the historical record to be part of the whole secret team of perpetrators of 9/11 and the ensuing cover-up.

Given as well the documented deceit to manufacture the reason to invade Iraq that even the mainstream U.S. and international media have exposed, don’t the above facts point out that 9/11 was as well a manufactured bloody pretext for the entire so-called “war on terror” of the Bush regime?

Two years after 9/11, way past the end of our collective innocence, the no-brainer answer to that question ought to give a far more sinister meaning to the statement: Bush blew it bigtime. CAIS/Bulatlat.com
