SECURITY-CONSCIOUS
In war-torn Mindanao, southern Philippines, the sight of an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) would have struck terror in a child. But terrified this boy in Ilocos Sur, northern Philippines is not. Nay, he even looks amused at the sight of this APC, which was deployed as part of the security arrangements for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s visit to Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson on his birthday last June 21. He could even think of playing with his bike in front of the APC, totally unfazed by the possibility of its running him over. Perhaps he could not help but be amused at the levels that the security-consciousness of the high and mighty could reach.
