PHOTO OF THE WEEK

COMING SOON: YEAR OF THE ROOSTER

Boy shows off his toy rooster during the recent Longaniza Festival in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, 407 kms north of Manila. The boy may not have known how coincidental his display of the toy rooster was: after Vigan’s citizens, it would soon be the turn of the Chinese to make merry as they usher in the Year of the Rooster on Feb. 9. In Chinese astrology, the rooster is a symbol of industry, resoluteness, and outspokenness. If we go by Chinese astrology, the people would do well this year to be especially hardworking, resolute, and outspoken in the continuing quest for justice and good governance.
