SALUNGGUHIT

Against the Victims

By Jasper Almirante/ Bulatlat

Nearly 19 years after the fall of the Marcoses from power, the wheels of justice grind ever-so-slowly for those whose rights were violated during martial law. If anything, they even grind against the victims themselves, with not a little help with a president who has shown willingness to compromise with the perpetrators.

Salungguhit literally means to underline; figuratively, to underscore or highlight.
