PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Still Jamming

The tall, thin man with long white hair is poet-musician Jess Santiago, while the one with dark glasses is Pendong Aban, Jr. of the folk-rock group Asin. They were caught by Bulatlat’s camera while jamming a few minutes before their performance at the July 1 rally in Makati City demanding the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Both attained fame in the 1970s, performing in anti-dictatorship rallies aside from their usual gigs. They have been through countless rallies and two ousters and they are still at it, continuing to make music that sounds the call for change in the way things are in this country.
