Text of standard
letter drafted by Philippine consulate in Nagoya:
Statement
of Support for President Arroyo
We, the officers and members of
(OFW group name) have been closely monitoring developments in our country
that tend to undermine political instability.
We are deeply concerned about the effects of these recent events on our
economy and democratic institutions, as well as on the well-being of our
people, particularly our families.
As a manifestation of our complete trust and confidence in our duly
elected leaders, we hereby declare our full support of President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo and condemn efforts of anyone to usurp power through
extra-constitutional or unlawful means.
We are forever grateful to Her Excellency's initiatives at protecting our
rights and promoting our welfare as overseas Filipinos and, in return, we
stand behind her administration and programs for reform, unity and
reconciliation.
In addition to maintaining the good image of the Filipino abroad, all our
hard work and sacrifices away from home are also in pursuit of positive
change inour country, especially the accelerated growth of our economy,
and we do not want this threatened by all sorts of allegations and
exposes.
Since what is at stake at the moment is our national interest and
security, we call on our fellowmen to rally behind President Arroyo,
exercise sobriety, and maintain respect for the Constitution and the rule
of law.
