SALUNGGUHIT
Another Storm
President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo, facing a storm from an impeachment case, is resorting to
dilatory tactics by sending her lawyers to file a motion to strike the
amended complaint. In so doing she apparently hopes to buy time to get
herself out of the rut. But while she is engrossed with delaying the
impeachment trial, there is another brewing storm that could get her – an
International People’s Tribunal probing her culpability in human rights
violations that occurred under her watch. With the numbers and resources
at her command, she may just win in the impeachment court, but the battle
in the court of international public opinion will be a different matter
altogether.
