PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Hanging by a Beam

While painting the wall of the police office in Baguio City, 246 kms. north of Manila, a laborer also gives his mightiest efforts to cheat death as he hangs seated on a bamboo beam, with only a nylon rope to help him keep his balance. Just one wrong move and he could hit the ground. Such is what so many people in the Philippines are willing to put up with these days to keep their jobs, as rising prices and the economic crisis make life more miserable for everyone by the day.
