PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Pride of Pampanga

The province of Pampanga (about one and a half hours north of Manila) is famous, among other things, for its intricately crafted parols (Christmas lanterns). Pampanga’s parols go beyond the usual star design, as can be seen in this store in San Fernando City, 66 kms. north of Manila and also the provincial capital. You have here parols shaped like angels, Christmas candles, the Madonna and Child, and even the belen (the Bethlehem nativity scene).
