SALUNGGUHIT

Who Kills Who?

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Task Force Usig, this early in the day, has come up with the conclusion that “purges” within the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) may be behind the killings of political activists and supporters of cause-oriented groups. This “finding” of Task Force Usig glosses over the motive and circumstances of the killings, which point to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as the most likely perpetrators of political killings. The speed with which the PNP has arrived at this “analysis” of the cases puts a cloud of doubt on whether there will be real justice for the victims of political killings under the Arroyo administration – now numbering 603 by Karapatan’s records.

Salungguhit literally means to underline; figuratively, to underscore or highlight.
