PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Just by the Corner

A jeep loaded with lumber gets additional passengers as rain-soaked young men hitched themselves to the vehicle’s rear, for a ride “just up to the corner”. The jeep drives through a flooded street in Hagonoy town, Bulacan province (52 km. north of Manila), where waters rise knee-deep every high tide, and rises even higher with typhoon rains.  The flood, however, goes on not just up to the next corner, but for at least three kilometers straight, thru three villages. The young hitchhikers are lucky for getting a ride.
