Anti-imperialist group say ‘No to US’ Regime Change in Cuba’

Anti-imperialist activists held a rally in front of the U.S. Embassy on Aug. 11, shouting “U.S. Government, Hands Off Cuba!”

Rita Baua, secretary general of the International League of People’s Struggle-Philippines Chapter, said, “U.S. President George Bush is exploiting the recent surgery on Fidel Castro and the temporary transfer of his leadership to Raul Castro as a ‘perfect’ scenario ‘to invade’ Cuba.”

Condoleeza Rice, current US Secretary of State, wrote in her June 2006 report about “the urgency of working today to ensure that the Castro regime’s succession strategy does not succeed.”

Baua revealed that the U.S.’ plan for “annexation” of Cuba includes more radio and TV broadcasting in Cuba about the “evil designs” of Fidel against the “democratic ideals” of the Cuban people, setting up a Commission for Assistance in a Free Cuba “in the event of the collapse of communism”, accusing Cuba of harboring biological weapons.

“The US is clearly the number one enemy and the number one terrorist in the world today for supporting Israeli Zionism for its relentless bombardment of Lebanon whose numbers of civilians killed has reached almost 1,000; for its occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan; for its military intervention in the Philippines,” said Baua. Palparan only terrorized people, not defeated NPA – Ka Roger

In his last days in service, Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan may have succeeded in terrorizing people in Central Luzon, but he failed to defeat the New People’s Army, said Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal, Communist Party of the Philippines spokesperson.

"The fascist bravado with which General Palparan is trying to project his terror campaign in Central Luzon is but a cover up for his failure and cowardice," said Rosal in a press release Aug. 12, a month away from Palparan’s retirement on September 11.

"In the past year as commander of the Central Luzon-based 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, General Palparan has never been in the field to fight the NPA. In fact, he has always been hiding from the NPA," Rosal said.

The CPP spokesperson said the military’s “massive saturation drives and covert operations” had targeted communities of peasants, workers and fisherfolk in Bulacan, Pampanga and Nueva Ecija, and not the armed units of the NPA. Bulatlat
