A Queue of Hope and
Desperation
This is not a queue of
people hoping to get into the controversial game show Wowowee, the
first anniversary celebration of which was marred by a stampede that hurt
and killed scores of people desperately seeking a way out of poverty. This
is nonetheless also a line of people hoping for a better life. They are at
the airport awaiting the arrival of their relatives who have been forced
to seek greener pastures abroad for lack of decent work opportunities in
the homeland.
