PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Jump for Joy

The waters of this beach in San Juan, La Union (278 kms. north of Manila) must be cool enough for these teenaged boys to enjoy it so much as to repeatedly jump for joy along the shore. This year’s summer has brought the country heat so scorching that in some places one can sweat simply by sitting in front of the electric fan: even the air is so hot that you have very little use for ventilation. With this sweltering heat, multitudes may well be expected to go the way of these boys and flock to the country’s famous beach resorts to cool themselves.
