Surface NDF Consultant Rudy Calubad

The Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) of the AFP has yet to face the consequences of its continued denial of the illegal arrest of NDF consultant Rogelio "Rudy" Calubad. He was arrested by elements of the SOLCOM and ISAFP last June 17 in Calaug, Quezon province. He was abducted and taken by the military, together with his 29 year old son. To this day, Calubad and son are still missing.

SOLCOM chief commanding officer General Pedro Cabuay still denies the irresponsible deeds of his troops. Witnesses strongly condemn the forceful illegal arrest and abduction.  All circumstances are pointing to SOLCOM and ISAFP elements as perpetrators.

His family drowns in pain as they are haunted by nightmares. Images of torture and possible execution are too much to bear for his family and friends, while  SOLCOM officials denies the abduction.

Why does General Cabuay condone his troops to abduct NDF leaders? Why does he ignore the continued disappearance of an NDF personality? Why are they afraid to surface Calubad? Is it because the NDF consultant is in a very bad state because of physical abuse and torture he had suffered in the hands of the military? Are Calubad's bruises too much to show to the media and the public?
