Sa usapin naman ng depensa at militar, itinatayang nabansot ang kakanyahan ng kapuluang magpaunlad ng sariling kakanyahang pangdepensa dahil sa pagpapatuloy ng pagkakataling pangseguridad ng Pilipinas sa Amerika.
