DARE TO WEAR

It's not the clenched fist but the message on the alampay (native shawl) wrapped around this congresswoman's Filipino flag-inspired dress that also caught the attention of some foreign ambassadors who congratulated her for the daring outfit. The congresswoman, Bayan Muna Rep. Liza Maza, just came from a historic walkout from Congress - along with six other party-list legislators - while visiting U.S. President George W. Bush was about to address a joint session Oct. 18. Then she went straight to the rally site on Commonwealth Avenue, climbed the stage atop a truck and showed her form with the "No to US War" sign and the dovish sarimanok to the cheers of thousands of anti-Bush demonstrators.
