IN FULL DEFIANCE 

Sixty-year-old Pedro “Tata Pido” Gonzales, Anakpawis provincial board candidate in Quezon, was shot seven times by suspected Army soldiers last May 12 in Gumaca town, same province. But the First Quarter Storm activist is obviously sturdier than his assailants thought. Just 13 days after his near-death experience, at a tribute to revolutionary leader Jose Maria Sison in Metro Manila, Tata Pido is strong enough to raise a fist – in full defiance of those who tried to silence him. He was given a two-minute standing ovation by the audience.
