STOOPING, BUT PROUD 

Stooping is definitely something not associated with the proud Cordillera peoples, whether women or men. These old ladies photographed while walking along the public market in Baguio City, northern Philippines stoop only because they are stricken with osteoporosis, a disease that strikes women lacking in calcium intake – and lacking still in government food and health services. They seem to hunker down, yes, but their faces reveal the dogged determination to go on facing life’s challenges.
