SIDEWALK HITChildren’s activity books being sold on the sidewalks are becoming more and more popular among parents with pre-school and grade school children, as shown in this scene photographed along Session Road in Baguio City, north of Manila. As books like these are becoming more and more expensive in the “legitimate” school supply stores, people now look for ambulant vendors for books that cost less. In more ways than one, this scene mirrors the state of education – with parents increasingly sending their children to the public schools which many of them used to shun, as tuition in private schools becomes more and more unaffordable.
