MUZZLING THE MEDIA

The Philippines gained last year the dubious distinction of having the second biggest number of journalists killed, next to war-torn Iraq. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and its local affiliate National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) observed during a fact-finding mission held last week that a culture of violence perpetrated by government itself has led to the violence.
