SALUNGGUHIT
MUZZLING THE MEDIA
The Philippines gained
last year the dubious distinction of having the second biggest number of
journalists killed, next to war-torn Iraq. The International Federation of
Journalists (IFJ) and its local affiliate National Union of Journalists of
the Philippines (NUJP) observed during a fact-finding mission held last
week that a culture of violence perpetrated by government itself has led
to the violence.
