PHOTO OF THE WEEK

A Different Heat

One week after, the activists who attended this year’s Labor Day rally haven’t forgotten the last May 1 for being one of the hottest days this year thus far – and will probably not forget the heat so easily. Still, that didn’t stop the 10,000-strong crowd from intently listening to the speeches and watching the cultural presentations that Sunday. There having been almost no shade at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila where the country’s main rally was held, many of the protesters improvised their own ways of shielding themselves from the heat – like these workers caught by Bulatlat’s camera, sitting through a speech with towels “adorning” their heads.
