SALUNGGUHIT
A Plague unto Itself
By Jasper
Almirante/
Bulatlat
President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo’s attempts at preempting an alleged destabilization plot
by her political opponents have only put her in a position where she holds
fort in a sand castle being battered by the waves. Electoral fraud and
illegal gambling scandals rock her government at the same time that the
people are restive over the weight of economic and political crises under
her administration. With these, she does not need the opposition to
destabilize her government: Malacañang (the presidential office) is
bringing a plague unto itself.
Salungguhit literally means to
underline; figuratively, to
underscore or highlight.
