PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Close to Home

The young man on the hammock is a farmer from rustic Rizal province, about an hour south of Manila. He was photographed July 24 at the Diliman campus of the University of the Philippines (UP), taking a break during the cultural program that served as a build-up toward the next day’s SoNA rally. He has been putting his hammock to good use back in Rizal, and had brought it to UP – which also hosts some of Metro Manila’s few remaining century-old trees - in the hope that he could find rest after a tedious trip in a setting close to home. Well, he was not disappointed.
