Mga Pagpupugay kay Vicky Samonte, Pinaslang na

Tatlong tula
Vicky Samonte, 51, was a member of the
national council of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) and headed
the Andres Soriano College Employees Union in Bislig, Surigao del Sur. She
was stabbed to death while on her way home with a fellow teacher on board
a tricycle in Barangay (village) Mangangoy. According to a news report, a
third passenger ordered the tricycle drive to stop and then suddenly
stabbed Samonte in the back. Three faculty members from the University of
the Philippines (UP) now pay tribute to her through poetry in Filipino.
Kay hirap tumula ng mga bulaklak,
Kung ang pagmimina ambang pagkapaslang,
Ng tribo at lahi nitong bunying bayan!
Me bulaklak ako,
Me sintang iisa,
Saliw ng neruda:
Di ko nga maawit, maawit pa ba?
Dugo ang kalsada, sa punglong pasista!
