Majority of Filipinos think that the economy has gotten worse and an even bigger number are dissatisfied with Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's performance as President.

According to the latest survey by IBON Foundation, an independent research think-tank, the number of respondents who replied that the economy worsened fell to 64.6% in January 2006 from 68.5% in October 2005. Similarly, respondents who replied that the economy was better increased from 1.5% in October 2005 to 2.3% in January 2006.

Despite this, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo still recorded a net satisfaction rating of  -75%, with 7.9% of respondents saying that her performance was “satisfactory” against 82.8% who said that it was “unsatisfactory.”

This means that four out of every five Filipinos are dissatisfied with Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's performance as President while three out of every five Filipinos think that the economy has gotten worse.

The latest IBON nationwide survey was conducted from January 1-11, 2006 with 1,331 respondents from various sectors. The survey used a multi-stage probability sampling scheme with a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
