Super
Illusion
President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo have grand promises of bringing the country to the
Enchanted Kingdom of economic development, creating “super-regions” and
training “supermaids”, even as majority of the people are faced with
joblessness, the rising cost of fuel and basic products, the utter lack if
not absence of social services. Pres. Arroyo must think she has “super
powers” herself as she and her political allies railroad charter change,
brush off charges of corruption and human rights violations in the
impeachment complaint and questions about her legitimacy. But dishing out
such promises amidst the growing unrest and crisis, she might as well just
be having super illusions.
Salungguhit literally means to
underline; figuratively, to
underscore or highlight.
