Work after the Harvest

There is still work to be done after rice is harvested from the fields. The grains have to be dried before being milled, because wet rice grains when milled would be crushed, besides selling cheaper. The National Food Authority (NFA) does not have the facilities for that, so it is the farmers who end up having to do the work after the harvest. They do it the old way, the most affordable way for them: to spread out the grains on the street, often in national highways, and let these dry under the sun’s heat.
