OF THE WEEK

Festival Turned Sortie? What was apparently a festive atmosphere further enlivened by the performances of a brass band last Feb. 25, the second day of the annual Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City (246 kms. north of Manila), would be somewhat marred by politicking. Senatorial and local candidates belonging to the administration’s Team Unity took advantage of the occasion to do their campaigning among the festival’s captive audience. The brass band performers became unwitting and perhaps unwilling participants in what was turned into a campaign sortie.
