A Slipper. An anecdote involving national hero Jose Rizal is often told during Philippine history lessons. The young Rizal, after losing one of his slippers, was said to have thrown his remaining slipper in the hope that somebody might find both slippers and be able to use it. That was several centuries ago. Today, most children survive without slippers. The children shown in the picture would not throw this one slipper because it is the only one they have got.
