Smokey Mountain
November 7, 2009

Smokey Mountain. Clouds of dust rise above a mining site for nickel ore operated by Taganito Mining Corp. (TMC) on Red Mountain in Claver, Surigao del Norte. The pollution has endangered the ecosystem of the area while residue from the operation has spoiled rivers as well as the sea near the site. The ore is loaded onto ships anchored offshore that will take it to Japan for processing.

Sana naman may gawin ang gobyerno na protektahan ang ating kalikasan at ang mga taong nagiging biktima ng mga minahan na ito.

i have passed by the town. disappointed to see, like a muddy cowboy town in the old america. would like to see the mining company put back plenty more into the commumity, and pay the tribes their royalties.charlie from hong kong 7th nov., 2009
