Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno announced that a curfew has been imposed from 12 midnight to 5:00 a.m. tonight in the National Capital Region as well as Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog. The last time curfew was imposed was when former president Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law September 21, 1972.

Saying the measure is temporary, Sec. Puno explained that the curfew was necessary for the follow-up operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP). He added that they would assess tomorrow whether curfew would be again imposed tomorrow night. In the meantime, people who would need to move around during the curfew hours are advised to bring valid identification cards as checkpoints would be set-up around the city. (Bulatlat.com)
