SC affirms conviction of Kian’s killers
“[W]hen Kian was shot, he was not in a position to defend himself,” a portion of SC’s decision read.
The International Criminal Court is scheduled to conduct the confirmation of charges hearing against former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte is accused of crimes against humanity for implementing a deadly “war on drugs” during his administration.
Here is Bulatlat’s page for its special coverage this February 2026.
“[W]hen Kian was shot, he was not in a position to defend himself,” a portion of SC’s decision read.
“It strongly appears that Mr Duterte is feigning cognitive impairments in an attempt to avoid a trial on the merits,” the Prosecution of the International Criminal Court (ICC) stated based on the report from the panel of medical experts.
“I am eagerly praying for Duterte to live long. So when justice comes, he could feel our pain and grief in killing our loved ones."
Gayunman, may hurisdiksiyon pa rin ang ICC sa mga umano’y krimeng naganap sa Pilipinas noong panahong kasapi pa ito, mula Nobyembre 1, 2011 hanggang Marso 16, 2019.
The Chamber said that while the Defense limits its argument to the fact that Duterte is 80 years old, and his alleged condition based on medical reports, it failed to substantiate “how detention is so detrimental that it justifies his release.”
