Open Letter to Philippine President Benigno Aquino III

From the Concerned People of Australia and New Zealand

We, concerned groups of Australia and New Zealand, urge you Mr.
Aquino, to prove to the international community that there is hope for
significant improvement in the Philippine human rights situation and
greater confidence for peace-building under your leadership.

Now that the Marcoses are back in power and the Arroyos are still very
much in power, any compromise deal with the Marcoses and Arroyos under
your administration will betray not only your father but every
Filipino who yearn for justice, accountability and meaningful change.

As peace advocates in the international community, we fully support
calls for your administration to pursue formal peace negotiations with
the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Moro
Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) towards resolving outstanding issues
of land/ancestral domain and socio-economic injustices in the
Philippines.

To restore the public’s faith in the justice system and build up
confidence for the peace process, we ask you to take steps to:

1. Immediately release the 43 health workers and all political
prisoners who remain in unjust detention on purely fabricated charges
under the campaign of political repression of the Arroyo presidency.

2. End Arroyo’s Oplan Bantay Laya and all forms of repressive
campaigns against trade unions, peasant groups and all legal mass
organisations critical of corruption, military abuses, economic
plunder and anti-poor policies of the government.

3. Promote greater protection of media workers and undo the efforts to
make the Ampatuans go scot-free for the 25th November 2009 massacre
that claimed the lives of the biggest number of journalists in a
single day.

4. Ensure justice for all victims of extra-judicial killings and
enforced disappearances. Prosecute the main perpetrators of rights
abuses
like the notorious Gen. Jovito Palparan.

5. Order the opening of all military detention camps and
facilities for the kin and human rights advocates to search for
victims of enforced disappearances.

6. Fulfill the long-overdue compensation for surviving victims of
the Marcos dictatorship.

We have watched the Philippines closely and supported the Filipino
people’s struggles against injustice and tyranny since the Marcos
dictatorship. We are aware that a number of victims of extra-judicial
killings under Arroyo include indigenous peoples, peasants and
environment advocates who were at the forefront of campaigns against
mining giants, including Australian companies.

We shall continue to join the international community in watching and
challenging your administration to stop all repressive policies of the
previous regimes that gave rise to massive human rights abuses.. We
fervently hope that ending militarist policies,
promoting the peace process and making the Arroyo presidency
accountable for nine years of large-scale corruption and human rights
abuses will be priority agenda of your administration.

  2. Sir, gud pm. I wish you are in the best of health and good mood. At present im working in Riyadh, Saudi arabia
as nurse. Ive been working here for 27 years.I wish to work in our country but, understandably, i cant.I just want to raise a question directly to you because, i cant get a senseful and honest answer from the people working at Pag-Ibig Fund project of the Phil. over the phone since i was in iloilo that time, during my vacation . My daughter went to manila to process my papers with all the required documents.During my vacation last dec. 2010- jan.2011, i took a direct flight to iloilo because i have nothing to do in manila and hoping that everything was done and ok.I called in manila branch where i applied for this papers and they told me that, the cnheck is ready for release. After waiting for another 3 weeks, they told me that they cant release my check because of my housing loan. The money iwant to take is from my dollar savings . It was suppose to be withdrawn in 2005 but, they told us that we can let our money stay as long as we want, if we still dont need it. The Housing loan i have is from my peso pag-ibig saving which i was a member since maybe 30 years ago, when i was still employed at Western Visayas Medical center/Iloilo Provincial Hospital. All the agreement for my loan was based in this remittance, not in my dollar savings, how come they want to hold my dollar deposit. It is the agreement that if i cant pay my housing loan they can pull my house, but, i do pay regularly. I mean, where is the protection from the government here. Instead of helping us, you are pulling us down.I do fell that im being betrayed by our government. This is horrible.I wish you can help me in this matter , Sir.Thank you. I wish you will read this personally.

  3. Mr. President, good day po sa iyo.

4. This is about our GMA( ginintoang masagana ani program )

incentives(livestock) which we are supposed to receive. Our monthly incentive is Php 2000 of which I am entitled to receive. But I was not able to receive mine from July-December 2009 and from January of 2010 up to this month…Why is it that employees under GMA- rice, corn, fishery, and high value crops were given but we in the livestock commodity were not given. Were does the budget go? And the sad part is, we’re told to just forget it. How unfair on our side. We hope and pray for your immediate response. Thank you and Godbless…

  6. This is not for myself po, but for the benefit of all especially parents and students. Sana po, through your governance, maging 50%na lang po ang tuition fees ng lahat ng private college schools.I have a son enrolled at one of Maritime Found'n Schools, taking up Marine Eng'g., at talagang nabibigatan po ako sa expenses. Tuition fee, everyday allowance, other school expenses, so the 50%discount on tuition fee will mean a lot to us. Not only for the scholars po sana, but for every students. Not only for the Maritime Schools but for all Private College Schools po sana. Madami din pong matatalino na di makapag kolehiyo dahil sa kahirapan. Madami din naman pong below average pero nagsusumikap na makatapos, sana po everyone will be treated fairly when it come to tuition fees… Maraming marami pong salamat…

  7. Sir Noynoy pls don’t forget to fire the incumbent officials of PCSO specially their Director General Rosario Uriarte marami pong nakuhang pera ito sa PCSO nagkaroon po ito ng 3 condominium units, coffee shop, at bagong toyota Altis at Pajero…. maraming alahas…. at pera ng PCSO sigurado ang nakuha po nito.

  8. · Edit

Kamaganak, Inc is also back for a repeat performance, so need to add justice for the Hacienda Luisita farmers & most imporatnt to the Hacienda Massacre victims

working for justice for the oppressed famers of 3 generations of Cojuangco clan (Noynoy's grdfather, Cory & Noynoy)is nothing to sneeze about

kung walang kamkam walang Hacienda Luisita massacre victims
