Truth and Consequence

If politics were a game, perhaps “Truth and Consequence” would be its name. The ouster of Rep. Jose de Venecia, Jr. as House Speaker clearly shows that he is not anymore on the “good side” of the powers-that-be. His replacement by known Malacañang ally Rep. Prospero Nograles is a consequence for his failure to stop his son Joey from testifying on the controversial National Broadband Network (NBN) project. Aside from “punishing” De Venecia, the Arroyo administration tried to hide the truth by preventing vital witnesses from testifying in the Senate investigations. But truth is now slowly being ferreted out with the testimony of Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada, former technical consultant of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), who revealed the involvement of various personalities including First Gentleman Mike Arroyo. As the truth becomes known, will those responsible face the consequences of their corrupt action?
