March 1, 2011

BAGUIO CITY — Hundreds of tourists and spectators trooped to Baguio City on Sunday to watch the Grand Float Parade, the culmination of the month-long Baguio Flower Festival or locally known as Panagbenga, which is now its 16th year. (Photo by Shiela Coo / (https://www.bulatlat.com))

Fresh flowers and produce from Benguet’s vast gardens and vegetable farms were showcased in all the floats that participated in the parade. (Photo by Artemio A. Dumlao / (https://www.bulatlat.com))

Never to miss out on the latest trends, a group of parade participants was inspired by popular computer game Plants vs. Zombies. (Photo by Shiela Coo / (https://www.bulatlat.com))

Street dancers and marching bands, wearing costumes made of or inspired by Benguet’s flowers, also joined the festivities.

Panagbenga in local Kankanaey (tribal people of Mountain Province and Benguet) dialect means “a time to bloom.” The Grand Float Parade is the country’s version of the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Artemio A. Dumlao / (https://www.bulatlat.com))
