Youth, students mark 47th anniversary of Kabataang Makabayan

MANILA – Revolutionary youth from different schools and communities in Metro Manila staged a lightning rally Nov 30 to mark the 47th anniversary of Kabataang Makabayan (KM).

Condemning the impact of the global crisis especially the US financial crisis on ordinary people, they urged the youth to join the people’s war. Kabataang Makabayan (KM) is reprotedly the only revolutionary youth organization in the Philippines.

KM members burned the US flag in protest of what they call as “pro-US and pro-elite Aquino government.”

  1. I was once a member of KM during my years in College and was incarcerated when Martial law was declared by Marcos in 1972. As KM then, I’ve never thought of overthrowing the Government, but asking the Leadership of swift reform, never had been allied with the Communist Party of Mao. I myself, all I wanted was for a better future of our country and for all Filipinos. I’ve heard some of my co-members went hiding somewhere underground, I decided to fight my life in poverty through straggle and finished my studies. I am much comfortable now and able to help others in other means. I hope that the fight of my fellow KM shall be fruitful for the Country and for themselves.
