Progressives renew solidarity with Palestinian resistance
October 8, 2026

MANILA – Progressive formations led by Philippines-Palestine Friendship Association (PPFA), Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), and International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) Philippines marched toward the US embassy on the third year since the Al-Aqsa flood. They condemned U.S., Israel and its allies for the continued genocide of Palestine and military aggression on West Asia.

The Al Aqsa Flood refers to the October 7, 2023 attacks led by Hamas that followed Palestine’s  long history of resistance against Israel colonial rule and occupation.

For progressives, the Al-Aqsa Flood is not what the west would label as “terrorist attacks” but rather an act of resistance similar to the Philippines, rooted in decades of oppression and colonialism by imperialist nations like the U.S. and Israel. For PPFA, it is the “beacon to our own resistance… It inspires all people struggling for national and social liberation, and therefore, we must support their resistance as if it were our own.”

By the end of the program, progressives burned the flags of U.S. and Israel, calling to stop the genocide, and reaffirming to fight for genuine freedom and the downfall of Imperialism.
