A few weeks ago, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the deployment of more troops to crush the “insurgency,” but the men and women, both old and young, of this armed revolution just laughed.
As an artist, he painted and wrote about the revolution and its people. Despite the dreariness of the the political and socio-economic situations, he still found these inspiring to paint with all the possible colors the advancement of the people’s war, and turned his life and those of the masses into a colorful, vibrant, exuberant subjects of depictions.
President Duterte knows first-hand the seductiveness and convincing power of talking about revolution and change. That’s exactly the costume and makeup he used when he campaigned for the presidency.
