LAGAWE, Ifugao – Ifugao remains under a state of calamity after typhoon ‘Hana’ wreaked havoc in the province claiming nine lives, including three children, last week.
Earlier, Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) reports said a landslide along the Hingyon-Banaue national road in Barangay (village) Pitawan, Hingyon buried two houses killing nine people.
PDCC reported that the last missing body among the said nine fatalities was found on October 2 with the help of two army rescue dogs. He was identified as Henry Linglingon, 55.
The same report said Linglingon’s wife Julia, 52 and children Joel, 27 and Rommel, 30 all died in the said accident. Other victims were identified as Erma Hiyadan, 50 her children Ruby, 7; Megan, 5; Johani, 3 and Cutilyo Hiyadan, 80.
The provincial government already extended burial assistance to the nine victims and relief to other affected residents in coordination with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).
Civil defense officer Marcela Cortez said major slides were also reported in the municipalities of Asipulo, Kiangan, Tinoc and Hungduan. She said a series of landslides along the Kiangan provincial road on the evening of Sept. 29 left vehicles and commuters stranded for two days.
Cortez said a landslide also completely destroyed a house at Sitio (sub-village) Linda of Brgy. Poblacion, Kiangan but nobody was hurt.
PDCC reports added that landslides were also reported along the roads going to the towns of Asipulo and Tinoc but the roads were immediately cleared. In Hungduan, two houses were also partially destroyed and another house was also partially damaged.
