News in Pictures: Arroyo Gets Failing Grade from Students
June 26, 2009

On June 18, Kabataan Kontra Cha-Cha!, a national youth movement against moves by the Arroyo government to change the Philippine Constitution, was launched through the initiative of League of Filipino Students (LFS).

“If the Arroyo regime continues to force Charter Change despite snowballing opposition across all sectors, the prospects of escalating student protests around Malacanang are not hard to predict,” said Terry Ridon, secretary-general of LFS.

More student protests are being planned in the coming weeks until Pres. Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address on the 3rd Monday of July.

In Marawi City, members of the League of Filipino Students (LFS) in Mindanao State University lead protests against con-ass and Chacha on June 22. They gave President Arroyo’s overall performance a failing grade. (Photo courtesy of LFS-Iligan)
