The members of the artistic community who were incensed by Malacañang’s bastardization of the selection process for the recipients of this year’s National Artist Awards have gained initial victory, as the Supreme Court has issued a temporary restraining order on the conferment of the awards. But the fate of their cause still hangs in the balance, as it remains to be seen what the final outcome will be.
