The recently passed Salary Standardization Law 3 has been met with criticism from various groups within the government bureaucracy. Among the major contentions by many of them are that the law is misleading and does not sufficiently answer the demand of government workers for better wages.

In this webcast, Bulatlat is joined by Santi Dasmarinas Jr., secretary-general of Courage, and Benjie Valbuena, vice-chairman of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers.

I would like to request all LGUs Employees Association/Union to support my proposal to amend EO 811 to give option to LGUs to implement salary adjustment effective/retroactive July 1,2009 (this proposal was published by the PDI on Aug.29,2009).

We were made to believe that LGC’s very concept of the LGUs devolution of power from the national government was very succesful in its implementation, but its sad to note that our national legislators are still the one who decided when to start & implement the salary standardization law for LGUs.

dapat lang naman itaas ang sweldo ng mag manggagawa dahil sa hirap ng buhay… wala na bang magawa ang gobyerno natin?
