BAGUIO CITY ?A scientist based here, 246 kms. north of Manila, was named best inventor for an eco-friendly engine oil additive called Magichanic Oil that can be used for all types of vehicles.

Johnny N. Sy recently named the best inventor in the utility model category of the National Invention Contest and Exhibits 2009 at the Philippine Trade Training Center under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

With Sy’s magichanic oil, drivers may apply less force to their accelerator pedals yet maximize fuel efficiency and combustion to enjoy more power yet up to 65 percent lesser emissions.
For his feat, Sy won a cash reward of P 100,000.00.

Sy introduced the Magichanic oil into the market on July 10, 2008 in Baguio City after over 20 years of research and experimentation. Today, about 90 percent of auto supplies and repair shops in northern Luzon use this oil.

Sy said that his invention offers four “Ps” for power, protection, performance and profitability that can overcome barriers to optimum engine performance like sludge, insolibles, oxidation and oil thickening.

Besides increasing mileage, Magichanic oil also boosts engine power for stronger uphill drives. The invention also reduces friction between the engine components, minimize engine wear and tear, lowers engine temperatures and prolongs the durability of an engine. It functions steadily at both low and high temperature conditions, Sy explained.

According to Sy, Magichanic oil provides a smoother drive and reduces vibrations, regardless of the vehicles age. The oil enhances lubricant fuel economy and reduces change oil frequency by 100 percent, thereby providing big savings and maintenance and fuel expenses and it increases the profit potential through the improved engine performance.

With our problems of climate change and global warming, the Magichanic oil can help reduce pollution, Sy pointed out.
DOST-Cordillera Regional Director Ben Ladilad said Sy is a pride of the region . He confirmed that they have conducted scientific tests and verified the originality of the invention. Our examinations confirmed that technically, the magichanic oil improves the effectiveness of the engine, he said.

“I personally tested the efficiency of the Magichanic oil, I change oil after three years when I use the oil”, Ladilad added.
Jonathan Estacio, a taxi operator/driver in Baguio said that he had an extra mileage of 10,000 km, as reflected in mechanic’s change oil logbook and that he now changes oil at an average of two or three months instead of monthly.

The DOST offered financial assistance to improve further the Magichanic oil.

The Baguio City Council headed by Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas issued a resolution commending and congratulating Sy for his outstanding achievement. (Northern Dispatch / Posted by Bulatlat)
